Summarize one of the following sections of the Fermi's Paradox podcast episode:
3. Act Two: Two Can Be As Sad As One- Ira Glass interviews Esther Perel, and Ester Perel,
is a therapist who keeps track of her own real-life sessions and compares them with real life couples who’ve agreed to be noted. The podcast highlights a specific session between a wife and husband who are trying, but not succeeding to hold onto marriage that is filled with infidelity. Within the relationship, the wife wants to trust her husband again and be happy, and the husband wants to gain her trust again and show his wife his love. Perel pushes them to be real and honest with one another, and eventually they are able to communicate and work through their issues. I think, “Two can be as sad as one” really relates to the fact that both people within the relationship may be sad, but as one they can work through so much more. If they work their sadness out as one, they can maybe see a breakthrough, like Perel was able to help them to see.
Why do you think that all three of the acts were included under one podcast episode instead of separate ones? What is the connecting factor?
I think each of the three acts were included under one podcast rather than three separate ones because they all relate in someway to one another. The three all include characters or events that portray a sense of loneliness or the need for forgiveness.
If given the chance, what would be some questions that you write down for your parents? Do you think they could answer them?
I ask my parents a lot of questions, but I would ask my mom, "If given the chance, would she go back to college when she was my age? Or would she want her life to go they way it has without a college degree? I think she would answer this question by saying that she wishes she went to college, however she wouldn't want to change how her life has turned out. For my dad, "Why did you pick a public administration degree and would you go back to school to get a masters?" He would probably say something along the lines of that the degree in that field of study benefits his career field and that no he's done with school.
Do you feel scared, like David, that there hasn't been life discovered beyond earth?
Um no, I'm not scared of the fact that there hasn't been any other life form discovered beyond earth, it doesn't bring fear, just curiosity, I would like to be alive if and when another life form could be discovered.
What is your favorite question that Rosie asks? Where do we go when we die?
This is my favorite question Rosie asks because I myself have questioned this as a child, and now as a young adult I am trying to figure out where I think we go when we die. Will I know for sure? Probably not but at least I can try and develop by own perspective and understanding.
